The second JSAI International Symposia on AI (JSAI-isAI) will take place in Tokyo on November 18 (thu) and 19 (fri), 2010. JSAI-isAI is an event that hosts several international workshops at the same location. This is in succession to the international workshops co-located with JSAI annual conferences since 2001. The JSAI-isAI 2010 committee has selected the following four outstanding workshops. Workshop 01: Logic and Engineering of Natural Language Semantics 7 (LENLS 7)
LENLS is an annual international workshop focusing on formal semantics, formal pragmatics and related fields. This year we especially welcome submissions related to the "Formal Structures of Salience". Salience is a concept with broad application in linguistics and philosophy; in recent years, it has played a role in the analysis of phenomena including focus, particles, and anaphora resolution within linguistics, and in philosophy it has been used in analyses of various kinds of context dependency (e.g. domain restriction and vagueness), as well as in the analysis of convention. However, in many cases, the concept of salience is left as a primitive. Submissions discussing foundational issues in the understanding of salience would be welcomed. We especially hope for contributions with a formal orientation.

Workshop 02: Fourth International Workshop on Juris-informatics (JURISIN 2010)
Aims and scope: Juris-informatics is a new research area which studies legal issues from the perspective of informatics. The purpose of this workshop is to discuss both the fundamental and practical issues for juris-informatics among people from the various backgrounds such as law, social science, information and intelligent technology, logic and philosophy, including the conventional "AI and law" area. We solicit unpublished papers on theories, technologies and applications on juris-informatics.

Workshop 03: First International Workshop on Advanced Methodologies for Bayesian Networks (AMBN 2010)
Over the last few decades, Bayesian Networks (BNs) have become an increasingly popular AI approach. In this workshop we explore methodologies for enhancing the effectiveness of BNs including modeling, reasoning, model selection, logic-probability relations, and causality. The exploration of methodologies is complemented discussions of practical considerations for applying BNs in real world settings, covering concerns like scalability, incremental learning, parallelization, and so on.

Workshop 04: International Workshop on Innovating Service Systems (ISS2010)
Service science has been raised, and coming to be established as a research domain all over the world. This workshop in Tokyo is motivated by the systems-design dimension of the service science. We aim to share and discuss a progressive vision to develop methods for innovating systems of service resources where novel values are created and supplied sustainably.

JSAI-isAI2010 takes place at the Campus Innovation Center, just 1 minute walk from JR (Japan Railway) Yamanote-Line, Tamachi Station [google map]. Tamachi is located amidst Tokyo, close to major parts of Tokyo, such as 8 miuntes train ride from the Tokyo station, 4 minutes ride from Shimbashi, 16 minutes ride from Shibuya, and 23 minutes ride from Shinjyuku.
